Calculators cannot be found in the test centre, and you're not allowed to lend a calculator.

Quick Facts

  • Only the calculators mentioned on this page are accepted in the Math Test-Calculator part of the test.
  • You are not allowed to utilize any calculator when you are working on those Reading, Writing and Language and Math Tests--No Calculator sections. You must put away the calculator aside during these sections on the examination.
  • You'll be ejected and your score canceled should you utilize your calculator to communicate information during the test, or to remove questions or answer sheets from the testing room.

Calculator Smarts

  • Bring your own calculator. It's not possible to share one.
  • Don't bring a completely new calculator. Bring one you're comfortable with. Learn to take the test using the same calculator you'll use on the day of your test.
  • The Math Test includes some questions in which it's best not to make use of the calculator, even though you're permitted to.
  • It might be helpful to complete scratch work on the test book. Write down your thoughts before using your calculator.
  • Check that your calculator is in working order , and that your batteries are new. The test facility will not provide extra calculators or batteries. If your calculator is damaged during the test and you're not able to find a replacement it will be necessary to pass the test without it.

Calculators are only permitted for the Subject Tests for Mathematics. Check out the guidelines and rules.

Acceptable Calculators

If you have a calculator with characters that are 1 inch or more, or if your calculator features a display that is raised that may be visible other test takers, you'll be placed in the test at the discretion that of your test instructor.

Only handheld handhelds powered by batteries is allowed for testing. It is not permissible to use power cords.

Calculators that are allowed to be used during testing include:

  • Most graphing tools (see chart)
  • All scientific calculators
  • Every four-function device (not recommended)

Unacceptable Calculators

You cannot make use of any of the following items as a calculator:

  • Laptops, computers of other kinds, mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, wearable technology or smartwatches
  • Models that can access the Internet, have wireless, Bluetooth mobile, audio/video recording and playback, camera, or any other features that are similar to smartphones.
  • Models with a computer-style (QWERTY) keypad pen input or stylus
  • Models that use electrical outlets, make noise or use a paper tape
  • Additionally, the use of hardware peripherals , such as stylus devices that are compatible with an approved calculator is not permitted. Some models that feature touchscreen capability are not allowed (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
